1

 FREE Grant Workshops:

The State of Alaska Dept. of DOT and Parks and Rec have contracted with Grants Pro to teach Grant Writing Workshops around the state of Alaska. If you would like this training taught in your community, contact us at R.Wuitschick@gmail.com or text #907-982-9025. The State pays for our travel expenses and our time, so there is no cost to the communities or participants.

The Workshop includes a four-hour power point presentation that explains the steps necessary to prepare a successful grant, teaches grant terminology, shares Alaska funding sources, teaches how to access Grants.gov for grant searches, and gives examples of grant documents needed when submitting a grant.

Participants receive a Certificate of Completion when the training is finished. They also receive a handout of the power point presentation with a place for handwritten notes. We will be developing a Grant Writing Video in the future, which individuals can purchase. We also are preparing to teach the course on Zoom.

Alaska Community Development Block Grant Program:

The goals of the Alaska Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) are to provide financial resources to Alaskan communities for public facilities and planning activities which address issues detrimental to the health and safety of local residents and to reduce the costs of essential community services. The program may also fund Special Economic Development activities which result in the creation of jobs for low and moderate income persons.

CDBG competitive grants are single-purpose project grants; maximum of $850,000 per community. There are three basic funding categories: community development, planning and Special Economic Development.

CDBG programs utilize the resources of the Community Development Block Grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Any Alaskan municipal government (except Anchorage) is eligible to apply for the grants. Non-profits may apply as co-applicants for these pass-through funds. In a typical year, applications are distributed to municipalities in late fall, and awards are made the following spring.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a $50 million funding opportunity aimed at fostering affordable, reliable, and secure energy solutions across Indian Country.

The Office of Indian Energy is pleased to offer this opportunity to support Tribal-led community-scale energy project planning and development, and— for the first time in Office history, large-scale energy project planning. DOE anticipates issuing awards up to $7,500,000 (funding per individual award will vary).

This funding opportunity has zero or 10% cost share available with no reduction request required, depending on the type of project. This funding opportunity also has a reduced application length to reduce the time burden to apply.

Through the Unleashing Tribal Energy Development funding opportunity, the DOE Office of Indian Energy is soliciting applications from Indian Tribes, which include Alaska Native regional corporations and Village corporations; Tribal and intertribal organizations; Tribal Energy Development Organizations; and Tribal Colleges and Universities.
